1986
A Visionary Beginning
In 1986, Carlos Oliveira founded MOLIPOREX in Marinha Grande. He foresaw the future demands of the mould-making industry and established the company just before Portugal gained global recognition for its high-quality moulds. This strategic move positioned MOLIPOREX in the forefront.
1987
We exported our first mould to the USA. Since then, we've grown from a pioneering mould maker to a trusted plastics expert.
1992
Pioneering PLM Solutions
Carlos Oliveira and his brother Victor Oliveira, who joined him in the early 1990s, developed a strategy to create an integrated offer for the global market, based on the highest standards of management and technology. In 1992 DISTRIM was founded, introducing Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions to the Portuguese market.
1997
Industrial Complex: Integrated Services Revolution
By the mid-1990s, we evolved into a multi-service platform, anticipating the demand for integrated product development services. By situating companies within the same industrial complex, integrated services were streamlined, adding value for clients. This period marked the birth of the VANGEST Group, with new companies expanding our capabilities.

2009
Expanding Horizons: the Rapid Manufacturing Centre
In response to market demands, we expanded our production capacity and established the Rapid Manufacturing Centre. MPTOOL's creation increased our manufacturing capability to 35 tonnes, enabling us to tackle larger, more complex projects.
2012
Advancing into Thermoplastic Plastic Injection
We launched European High-Tech Plastics (EHTP), our thermoplastic injection unit. Utilising all-electric injection machines, EHTP specialises in high-quality, complex technical components for various industries, including medical, automotive, food & beverage, and electro-electronic sectors.
2015
Precision and Innovation
ATT – Advanced Tool Technology company was established, focusing on high-precision technical moulds. This expansion incorporated sophisticated technologies, including Advanced Flexible Machining systems with integrated robots.
2020
Redefining Manufacturing Through Industry 4.0
Our commitment to innovation led to the creation of the Digital Factory, a state-of-the-art facility built on Industry 4.0 principles. This temperature-controlled, energy-efficient facility features advanced insulation, solar panels, and a digital energy management system, optimising operations with a focus on sustainability.
2022
Mergers for Resource Optimisation
Merging companies by business area for greater integration and efficiency. MPTOOL, 3DTECH, and ATT joined forces under MOLIPOREX, streamlining operations while maintaining expertise. Factory specialisations remain unchanged. Grandesign and DT2 RMC also merged, strengthening new product design, prototyping, and small series services.

Vangest has redefined its structure with two specialised divisions: Vangest Medical and Vangest Industrial. This strategic move enhances our focus, allowing us to drive innovation and efficiency in key sectors. With dedicated teams specialising in each area, we strengthen our expertise, ensuring tailored solutions, advanced technologies, and industry-leading performance.
